Buying house and possible building control issue

Hi,

In the process of buying a house.

We have identified a potential issue in that a chimney stack to the ground floor and a wall have been removed. It seems that no building control sign-off was obtained.

We are waiting on clarification as to when these were removed (wall was certainly in the last two years and is recorded in the property information pack as being non-load bearing). Chimney stack may have been before this or at same time.

We have requested further information from the seller.

Our general plan is that we are likely to request that a structural engineer assess whether any structural support is adequate.

Is there anything else that we should we be aware of or need to consider? (other than that if this has been bodged, there may be other problems).

Thanks.

No, you have already said what you need to do, Structural Engineer, that's it.

As a side note it's very easy to see if the wall and chimney removal has caused an issue, cracks and uneven floor / ceiling.
