Credit in my TSB account I don't recognise ref RRC###############

I've checked my account today and saw an FPI given to me for a moderately large amount, (over £100 but less than £1000). I don't recognize it, and the reference is just RRC and then 15 digits. I can't think who would be paying into my new account or who would still be paying into my old M&S account I switched from. Does anybody know what this reference is likely to mean?

    Ask, as they can usually tell you and you don't think the money is yours, anyway.


    Letters may refer to the company paying and some people have mentioned amounts being wrongly credited or debited.

    Since the nearest branch is in an inconvenient place and TSB don't provide a freephone number, I'm certainly not going to go out of my way and spending my own money to inform them of something that can only negatively impact me. I guess I'll let it remain a mystery if nobody can suggest what the reference means.

    This could be to do with the ongoing IT problems at TSB, others have reported they had erroneous credits and debits to their accounts and that some could see the accounts of others' too. If you know you've had no business with RRC and weren't expecting that payment then that's what I'd assume. If you have twitter or an email address why don't you contact them via that method and take screen shots so you have proof of the transaction before it's corrected. They're supposed to be compensating those of us who have been 'inconvenienced' and put out of pocket by this so called upgrade!
    Btw You are lucky you could see your account, I haven't been able to see mine since this whole debacle started, I can log in and see the balance occasionally and when I click to see the detail, i get a service unavailable message or another person's name appears but no details. The balance has also been wildly inaccurate as I haven't been able to use the account since these IT shenanigans started!!

    p.s OP re my post above the point of emailing is that you'll have it in writing that you informed them even if they choose to do nothing about immediately or ever! They're in such a mess right now.
    Also the 0345 number is considered as a local number so may be included in your mobile phone plan if not on your landline. I can call them for free using either.

    I PAYG on both mobile and landline, no free calls. What's their customer service email address, if they have one it's well hidden on their site?

    No bank or other financial group will ever use or accept email as a means to discuss account details.
    Email is not and was never set up/invented(sadly) to be a secure method of transmitting information.
    The bank has no way of knowing that the email really does come from you.
    ....so I'm not surprised you cannot not find an email address to use

    I think you have two choices:
    Fill in the complaint form at the portal- explain the situation fully and they should reply by e-mail (eventually!!) as you supply your e-mail (and phone) details

    or.... this might be the number: 0800 0150030- says 'telephone banking /lost & stolen cards. This is free from both landlines and mobiles
    Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

    0345 numbers are just the standard rate.

    Try say noto0870 and look up 0800 numbers for TSB Bank
