I looked into what my £14.50 per month Barclays Additions Plus account offered me yesterday and I was quite impressed actually.
It offers:
Emergency breakdown cover for home stuff like boilers etc,
Mobile phone cover,
Free legal advice,
Will writing service,
RAC full breakdown cover
Multi trip holiday insurance inluding cover for my snowboarding
And loads more stuff really
I've compared the policy details with those I have already in place so i've decided to cancel my mobile cover, saving £100 per year, my RAC cover, saving £85+ per year, each holiday I usually bought post office travel insurance for which is about £25 I think and I've got an expert calling me back later today from the Legal advice line to help me with some quite tricky data protection matters I am trying to sort. I could really have used the emergency breakdown cover recently too after I returned to no hot water after a cold wet camping trip!
So before I go and cancel all my existing policies guys and girls, am I missing something here, because it seems like i'm getting quite a good deal? What do you think?

If you cost out the things you really need (not the ones you'll never use) and it saves you money then why not! We're paying £60 for global annual travel insurance (just had the renewal), so you may be paying over the odds for some things at present (£100 for mobile phone cover!!) As long as you can get more for the £174 then you could pay individually for the services you need then it's worthwhile.0

Check the T's and C's on the travel insurance. I thought the same about first directory but I recently found out that the travel insuranc eis for a maximum of 31 days per trip. As my OH is from Australia we take regular trips to see her family and went on 2 that were longer than 31 days thinking we were covered when we weren't. Thankfully nothing went wrong and we didn't have to claim.
This is obviously not an issue if you don't go on long trips.Debt in June-03 - £24,000
Debt in June-06 - £8,500 (all on 0% cards)
Debt in Jan-08 - £4,000 (all on 0% card)
Savings greater than debt!
Officially debt free!!! :j0 -
i have this account and have used the breakdown servie sveral times until i changed my car. It was very efficient and this along wqith the travel insurance which we use makes up for the money we pay out... I also used them to write our will which saved a fortune0
