Hi all,

Currently trying to sort issues with an energy supplier but they’re being difficult and particularly slow.

Overview;
I’ve recently found out about a CCJ that was awarded against me a few years ago
The energy company have no record of it
The solicitor company aren’t helping as they no longer work for the energy company and the account was taken back from them, in full, by the energy company

I’ve since found out that the energy supply had both incorrect start date (earlier than it should have been) and an incorrect end date (later than it should have been)

My complaint with the energy company has reached 8 weeks and I’ve been told I now have the option of using OfGem.

Is there any advice you have that could possibly help me;
Get the CCJ removed
Pursue the complaint/get a quicker resolution
Get any sort of compensation

When was the ccj issued?
It drops off 6 years from issue.

What makes you think you deserve compensation?

It!!!8217;s just over 3 years old.

One of this agents said !!!8220;we!!!8217;ll get the CCJ removed and compensation sorted!!!8221; is why.

All I was bothered about was having he CCJ temoved because it wasn!!!8217;t correctly applied, I wasn!!!8217;t made aware of it.

Currently I!!!8217;m unable to apply for a joint mortgage with my partner at a decent rate because of it. We either incur extra costs in interest or buy a house on a single mortgage and can!!!8217;t buy one as big or where we would have been looking.

Was it issued to a previous address?

If so then it was issued correctly if you didn't provide a forwarding address.

Take your case/complaint to the Ombudsman.

Set out that

1. They never supplied you with a detailed bill

2. They tried billing you for periods when you were not responsible for the energy supplied to the property

3. As a result of the above, they applied for and got a CCJ agianst you without your knowledge.

State that you are willing to pay the correct bill should it be due and that you require the removal of the CCJ and that you want confirmation of this in writing.

If the CCJ was correctly awarded but just the dates are wrong (but aren't so wrong that it should have dropped off) then you'll get token compensation at best, certainly the fact it is there is the reason why you have mortgage issues, not the incorrect dates
