Ignoring it further is a gamble. We can't predict what they will do. If it does get escalated then the cost to you goes up.

As you have a ccj it's likely to have the same impact whether you pay it or not. The credit report damage is already done.

Not paying it isn't without its risks but in saying that as the damage is done if the risk doesn't scare you to much it might be worth taking.

I hate to say but it's your call.

I would try the set aside, if you can honestly say you never saw actual court papers or proper particulars of claim, only letters that looked like a scam.

Have you checked your credit rating, to be sure there is a CCJ:

    https://www.trustonline.org.uk/

If you do that now, take a screenshot with a date showing at the bottom, and use that to show the Judge that you only just learnt about the CCJ and heard nothing from an actual court at all.

See the NEWBIES thread post #2 about set asides.

And search 'set aside particulars of claim' to find recent versions of a Draft Order to go with your WS and N244 and cheque for £255 (which you will try to reclaim).

Do not pay them, that leaves the CCJ there (satisfied) which still ruins your credit.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
