Dear All
I have just found out that my washing machine has packed in and with a nine month old baby, I need a swift replacement.
I am looking for something with a good capacity and spin. Are there any good machines around at a good price and with prompt delivery?
Thanks

My son bought one from John Lewis a couple of months ago and is really pleased with it. The product code is 88931002. Don't forget there is free delivery at the moment and go through Quidco for an extra 8%.0

I bought an Indesit Moon in September and I can't praise it enough - even the quick wash (30 mins) is FAR better than my old hotpoint.
It looks fab - my (7yr old) SS loves helping me use it and it's is not that expensive (about £280 delivered from John Lewis I think).
There were some free extended warranties going around earlier in the year too (think that might have been John Lewis too!)please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
mine packed up few days ago looked about went to currys had hotpoint aqualtis for £4** online it was only £389 but there was £20 delivery charge, so looked at littlewoods.com and found same machine for £399 but free delivery so was actually cheaper then currys. 7Kg wash load and 1600 spin and ultra quiet the reviews are excellent0

yeah i have an hotpoint aqualtis ..i did the same found it cheaper in lxdirect and delivered in 3 days !! really quiet washer and great fast programmes.also took extended guarantee as i have 4 children and i do lots of washes a week. also as i did when i bought my washing machine is to look out for a delay start on the machine as if u have economy 7 you can save loads of electric by putting on during the night.0 -

Hi, I had a zanussi for 14 years and eventually gave it away to my niece. I now have another zanussi but they are made by electrolux now so I can't really comment on that one yet however I can say I have had it for 3 years and no problems yet..
On another note I am thinking of a washer/dryer for my new home, I would be really grateful for any recommendations in this respect. thanks shrewdal0 -
Problem is getting a balance between quality and price! And obv here at MSE we'd go for price.
In terms of what I've used and friends have said, reliable brands are usually:
-Hotpoint or Creda
-LG
-Smeg
-AEG
-Miele
To avoid:
-Beko
-Servis
-Hoover
I think overall I favour Hotpoint in terms of reliability against cost. I have a problem with buying Bosch products but i find they break easily (not mechanically as such, but dials and handles/buttons etc...) I'd probably look at Hotpoint washer/dryer as Im sure you can get them for £300-£3500 -
