Passport renewal?

Phoned UK passport office (0300 222 0000) just now to get this question answered, still unclear?
Can you renew a UK passport 'completely' by going online, i.e. what about photographs?
Guy was not very helpful and I felt he was making it up as he went along!
Any advice appreciated.

Yes you can now do it all online.

My new one arrived yesterday, it took longer than it could have due to first photo being rejected. Applied mid April, had first photo been OK it would have been about 10 days turn round.

Complete form on line, upload photo, pay. Post old passport, wait for new one to arrive.

You will get an e-mail at all stages and text message when it is dispatched.

i've done mine online this week and have posted my old one of so waiting for the new one. I paid £9.99 for 4 photographs at our local Timpson store. The approve the photos online and give a code you can just put onto the application and the photo pops up so no need to upload yourself. Much easier for someone like me as I am not very good uploading things etc
