my elec bill - dunno if its right/not..am i paying right amount etc
Hi
I live in a 2bed flat which is entirely electric.
We have storage heaters that have been Off all summer long and only just switched on.
In any case,I currently pay £35 monthly to southern elec, and i just received a bill - with an estimated reading - and i'm on the economy7 tariff.
It shows that i owe £116 despite the fact that i pay a monthyl DD to them..can anyone explain what i can do to improve my situation ?
Theres 2 adults here and 1 toddler.

If you receive an estimated bill, provide a customer reading ASAP, and make sure that you then receive a bill based on the actual reading provided. If you can look at bills for the previous year to see how many kWh you actually consumed, you can ensure that your DD is actually enough to cover your consumption. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

OK, well read your meter now and again in a months time to get an idea of your consumption and therefore if your DD is enough to cover your usage. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Hi,
Your payments made should be detailed on the bill? If not, ask your Supplier to investigate.
As Expresso says, get a reading in to them. You have a limited time to do this after a bill is produced as Suppliers try to avoid using readings to close to half way through your next quarter to prevent jumps in your bills. Always give a reading each quarter either close to when your know you bill is due or when you get it. You can't go wrong then as you have control by getting rid of those estimates.
Remember as well that your Supplier will use data from the site so maybe estimating based on part of a previous occupants usage.
Did you give them an opening reading when you moved in? If not, that may be partly responsible as it could be too low.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
