Storage above stairs

Hi-
We r struggling for storage space in house and was thinking about having a largish storage cupboard built in space about stairs (standard 3 bed semi house and I am talking about stairs from hallway to upstairs.. hope this make sense). I am not talking about storing all the gold bars in the house but just bedding and quilts mainly....
I haven't actually seen one done ever and not sure if this is feasible, any downsides (other than losing ceiling clearance maybe and how will it look)
Thanks

It is your home so your choice on what you do. However ponder your Buildings Regulations and your principles of building ethos. Headroom of 2 metres would be a need, as would safe access. You should not have a ladder or steps pitching off stirs to an access area/cupboard. Of course nobody would be stopping you, but give a moments thought to the safety.0

I did that about 20 years ago, just fit plywood shelves, and used full height pine louvre doors to finish.
Surprising amount of storage space.0 -
Minimalise so you won!!!8217;t need storage space. Not only will you save on space you will save money and time.0
