Natwest PPI and S78

I have a Natwest Credit account which is still open and which used to have PPI on it. I sent Natwest a request to see the Credit Agreement as advised by MoneySavingExpert under Section 78 of the Customer Credit Act. I've been sent a letter back saying not only would there not be any PPI information on my credit agreement as it was dealt with by a different department / company but if they were to send me information on my original agreement, and they were unable to provide me with the correct documents, they would have to close my account.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this, and is it better to ask for PPI information citing the Data Protection Act instead?

If you already know your still open account had PPI then what additional information do you need?
Just send them a complaint about the PPI detailing your mis-selling reasons.
You don't need the Agreement or to mention the DPA.0 -

The fact that MSE say that is daft as hardly any PPI shows on credit card agreements. its just a waste of time and £1 plus postage.I've been sent a letter back saying not only would there not be any PPI information on my credit agreement as it was dealt with by a different department / company but if they were to send me information on my original agreement, and they were unable to provide me with the correct documents, they would have to close my account.
That sounds correct and right. Most credit card PPI was put in place post sale. Not at point of sale. So wouldnt appear on the agreement.
And most banks no longer hold the original agreements and will close accounts or significantly reduce credit limits. S78 requests are typically used by people trying to get out of paying their debts by looking for loopholes. It is not typically used by people looking to make a PPI complaint.as anyone experienced anything similar to this, and is it better to ask for PPI information citing the Data Protection Act instead?
You say the account is still open. Is there any reason why you cant use your monthly statement? If you pay PPI it appears on the statement.
Do you repay the statement in full each month or borrow on the card outside of the interest free period?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thanks dunstonh. The PPI on this account expired a while ago, though I might check very old statements as you advise. I'm actually pursuing two claims one of them from Barclays who I know mis-sold it to me as they simply switched my PPI to a plan B policy when I asked them to cancel. However NatWest have been good to me so I thought I'd do them the courtesy of checking the policy before deciding to file a claim.0
