Insurance Cancelled Because Of "Multiple Different Quotes"
Comments

Another update.
Hastings Direct got back to me with their investigation.
They declared that they were in fact wrong in cancelling my policy and that they should have just asked me to clarify any discrepancies with the quotes.
They've refunded me the £20 set-up fee and also given me £50 as an apology.
So, I guess it's case closed.
Thanks to everyone for their help and guidance on this!0 -
Hey there sorry to hear about your situation . unfortunately myself (additional driver ) and my mother (main driver) are currently in a identical situation with the same company. This occurred yesterday when we received an email that stated hasting can no longer carry out their policy due to the exact reason as yours.
I was not aware how serious this is and can affect your insurance in the future. After reading this thread I see where we may have gone wrong (occupation) I'm currently unemployed and carer for my mother so and my mother is on some medication so whilst she's filled out the insurance form she most have made a mistake.
I rang the company today and told me my only option is to write a formal letter to the company and there is nothing else I could do.
I'm still super confused as this is a first for both me and my mother what happened was not intentional and totally innocent ...
i was wonering how did your case go and did they drop the cancellation flag or whatever its called. thankyou0 -
If you want to get an idea of what the difference in premiums will be for a change of job before deciding on the new job (??) then do anonymous quotes online with the different jobs!
I get that what you're saying is the practical way to do it which avoid problems (and you're totally right, it is) - but then by extension what we're also saying is that to carry out our own perfectly legit checks, honestly, and out in the open under your own name is something which we should hide from insurance companies, that we should lie - exactly the kind of behaviour they're (ineptly) trying to discourage when all they do is hurt the honest and make it easy on the dishonest.
The industry really is farcical when you think about it.0
