remove lodger with no rental agreement

Hi any help on this one would be appreciated. Ex partner rented the spare room in her house to a lodger who was a pub friend on benefits and not working. There is no contract other than a piece of paper saying the monthly rental figure and one months deposit figure. Rent is paid up to end of April. Arrangement not working and he promised to move out at end of April. He asked for and was given half his deposit back before the end of April so he could hire a van, which he clearly had no intention of doing. Come 1st May the mood turns ugly and he says he has no intention of moving and suggests that she talks to CAB. May's rent is unpaid she still has £250 of deposit left.
Can she now give him 1 months written notice to go and then change the locks?
In the mean time, he has numerous belongings (furniture) in kitchen, hallway, conservatory and garden, can she move these to say her secure garage as she no longer wants them clogging up her house and cannot stand looking at them (A room rather than the house was rented to him)?
Can she now give him 1 months written notice to go and then change the locks?

So is it your house or your ex-partners ? You seem to have switched people during your post....0 -

Does your ex also live in the same house as this "lodger"?0 -

If there is no contract and this is just a lodger, then it sounds like enough notice has been given. But legally, I don't believe there is any notice required.0 -

.....
Arrangement not working...
The most unexpected outcome since Queen Elizabeth the Second won the "best living British Queen" award.0 -
Lodger has no "rights" to stay, politely ask him to leave, if he doesn't leave ask him impolitely.
Don't dump or damage his property, but give him notice to collect it or take it immediately.every time I manage to get one more breath into this body, I will sing a song of thanks to you my brothers, my sisters, my friends, may your sleep be peaceful, and angels sing sweetly in your ears.0 -

A very good suggestion. I'd start with their website: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/housing/renting-a-home/subletting-and-lodging/lodging/what-rights-do-lodgers-have/Note: Unless otherwise stated, my property related posts refer to England & Wales. Please make sure you state if you are discussing Scotland or elsewhere as laws differ.0 -
Lodgers have a right to 'reasonable' notice. A rule of thumb is that where rent is weekly, a weeks notice. Where rent is monthly, a month's notice.
But other factors can influence what is 'reasonable'. eg an extreme example would be where the home-owner feels threatened in their home by the lodger.
But in this case it seems an end to the licence agreement was mutually agreed for the end of April. So the home-owner could change the locks and deny entry.
Obviously the lodger's possessions must be kept safe until collected. They cannot be damaged, sold, held-to-ransome etc.
But please confirm:
* home-owner lives with the lodger yes?0
