Re-enamelling cast iron bath

Options
Does anyone have any experience of how to go about re-surfacing an old cast iron bath? I don't have the skills to do it myself and I've done some research indicating that this costs in the region of £300 to get someone in to my home to do the work. I've been told I could have it done for as little as £80. What I want to avoid is something that looks fantastic at first but then wears off relatively quickly.. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Have a look at Renubath. They've re-enamelled a cast iron bath (years ago) for me, and subsequently re-enamelled a chip in a steel bath. Very pleased with them both times. Its not cheap, I think is would be at least 1 1/2 times your estimate, but it will last. I doubt a complete re-enamel of a cast iron bath will look as smooth and glossy as a new bath, but if you want to retain the cast iron, its a good way to go.

Yes I found them on Google - it's good to have a personal recommendation though - they are pricey but then I know enough about the world to know that, to an extent at least 'you get what you pay for, but then there's charlatans who claim to be something they're not. Thank you for your advice, I'll include them in my 'serious potential' list of people I approach to do the work.

Even at £450 it's a reasonable price, given the cost of a new bath, and the cost to remove the old one and install the new. I'd expect a good new bath and the installation to cost £450 and you might only end up with a bath that is less characterful than your current bath.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

I used this kit years ago and it was amazing, it came up like a new bath and wore well too https://www.tubbyuk.com/
