Vendor changing completion date?

Again kezzygirl not trying to sound rude but a lot can happen between offer and exchange. Most people on here would advice to not do anything until exchange has happened. If you are moving that far away it would be been better to set a larger gap between exchange and completion to give yourself ample time to organise the move0

That's not the same as exchange. The deposit is transferred at exchange. The balance is transferred at completion.
Last year we were exchanging and completing within 2 days of each other. We had done the same as you, booked removals, given up jobs etc. They pulled out 5 minutes be for exchange and we were left high and dry with all our belongings in boxes.
You could threaten to pull out if they won't do Friday. Or you could put your stuff in storage and go to a hotel for a week.
It is a pain, this house buying lark.0 -
Ok then, if your solicitors have requested funds today that means you were due to exchange but the vendor wants to amend the completion date before exchanging I imagine. Not uncommon I believe. The proposed completing date it mere speculation till exchange is finalised0

It amazes me that people don't get to understand the process, the various steps, the points at which critical actions are taken etc with this the biggest financial commitment anyone will ever make.
Bit late now, but for anyone else starting out to buy a property - learn how the process works!
There are loads of books on the subject. Libraries are free.. The internet is full of guides.0
