    Again has he actually said he wants a months rent from you or is it a case that he is perhaps happy to accept a pro rata 1 day payment?
    What exactly has he communicated to you in respect of this?

    I often sign to receive keys back on the inventory at the same time that a tenant signs if available to say they have handed them over.

    I assume you took meter readings for your utility suppliers and have submitted them separately with the date you vacated as you are still liable for those until the end of tenancy.
