Question re chimney breast & electric fire

Hi

I just want to get some advice before I splash the overtime cash.

I want to buy an electric fire, the plasma style of ones that sit on the wall. It's to be placed on a wall (obviously) in my dining room. The concern I have it this, the place in particular where I would like it placed, is the back of the chimney breast from the living room.

I dont actually use the chimney as I have a gas fire in my living room which I dont use, so I dont see really that it would be a problem?! But having no idea at all regarding diy/building works at all I would not be surprised if I'm totally off here

Any advice would be greatfully received
