Somebody has accidentally deleted a very important sticky note from desktop which I would like to restore.
I have looked on Google but so far can't find a way of getting it back.
Please does anyone know if it is possible? My computer runs on Windows 7.
I do need a very simple idiots guide:o
Thanks.

If you cant see the appdata folder when browsing to the location in the fix , you will need to "show hidden files and folders" first.
This is done through the control panel, in file explorer options, in the "view" tab0 -
Thanks for the information.
Managed to get the point of Restore Previous Versions, but it says there aren't any, so I guess it has gone forever with lots of log in details and phone numbers:(
I don't suppose it worth trawling through the recycle bin is it? Do deleted sticky notes even go there?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I don't know. I've never noticed any .snt files in my Recycle Bin, so I assume not.I don't suppose it worth trawling through the recycle bin is it? Do deleted sticky notes even go there?
Have you tried to open the StickyNotes.snt file with either WordPad or Notepad?
You'll see a lot of gibberish characters in there but there might be some traces of your old notes.0 -
Back in the day, there was a programme for macs called "Search and Rescue". You typed in any words you could remember from a vanished file and it would find the file (or bits of it) that you'd lost. Saved my bacon a few times.
Is there a Windows equivalent? There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Yes lots of Windows equivalents, if you read posts above you will see that.
The main thing is stop using the computer because everytime you use it you risk the file you want being overwritten.
You want something that boots from an external device and scans the entire surface of the drive. This can take a long time. But if the files are important then its worth doing.
I recovered a picture CD once at it took 3 days to scan every sector and recover all the files off it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
