Hi guys
Just noticed in Revo uninstaller that my Avast antivirus is over a gigabyte in size.
Sorry, forgive, just maximised the Revo, and it is now showing 969 mb's.
Still, I wondered if you could recommend a decent current freebie AV of a smaller size?
Windows 7 running.

^^ Agreed - uninstall avast .. You may find you need a special tool to get rid of it completely ..

However, the Defender that is built into Windows 7 is not an AV, it is an antimalware suite only.
You want microsoft security essentials (built into defender in later versions of windows)

Although the Av part of windows own defense is good enough, i wouldnt completely trust defenders anti malware capabilities ..

If it were me, I would reinstall malwarebytes and just do a scan now and again, or if you have clicked on something you shouldnt have ;)

Bitdefender free is very good and is light on your machine.

Google best free antivirus, you'll see it popping up as one of the best.

    Cheers ryan.
    Andy, I have reinstalled Malwarebytes.
When I was looking for it to download, the link suggested that something which I can't now find, and the name of which I forget, might have been a better bet. I looked around the site, downloaded it, and used Defender to scan it. On installing it, at the Name, Address, and email stage, I decided, no thanks. I think that I used Revo, to get rid of it, (or so I thought).
Anyway, found and installed Malwarebytes, and did a scan. It produced aforesaid product as a PUP and asked to quarantine it, which I duly did.
Software, what is is like? Eh!
