I've just spent an hour or so trying to find a certain piece of software which allows you to draw up a household budget.
I saw the link on a MSE forum sometime in the last 2/3months but never bookmarked it.
I'm sure it was a MS product but not a common one e.g.Money.
IIRC It was a fairly large, paid for program, but the important basic parts could be used for free, (unusual for MS).
Anyone got any ideas?
TIA R

can you elaborate a bit more on functionality, what you need it to do etcHate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing

Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying :mad:0 -
It's for some else to try and get their finances in order.
Pretty basic,to record income, groceries, utilities, phone, BB, car/fuel, mortgage, council tax etc, and then see how they stand at the end of the week/month.
I've done something along these lines in Excel for myself, but I don't want to get dragged into some else's affairs.
If I can get hold of a free program, give it to them and then leave them to it, that will be fine.
Any other suggestions gratefully received!

So form your 1st post I presume you have trawled sites like download.com , cnet , tucows etc and mooched round them.
Also, If a spreadsheet would be good enough for them, you can via excel download from the net pre formatted ones for finances - might one of them do ?
If not how about THIS might it do ? I use an earlier and Non Java Version on my Psion Series 7. Certainly the version I use allows budgeting - not sure about the Java version as it is a newer and slightly different program

I think you mean Office Accounting Express 2007, but there's a US version only. Download link if you/they want to give it a go anyway - treat it like a preview before the UK version comes out (if ever).

Thanks on and all for replies.
I think GoofyGat was on the right track with MS Office Account Express.
When I had a look at it some things looked vaguely familiar. Any way it was much too complicated for what I need.
And thanks for all the links, I already looked at many of them, but it was that particular MS one I had stuck in my increasingly senile brain. LOL

Cheers, I'd already downloaded MSE Budget Planner, but not investigated any further, I'm guessing that will be the one to use.
