Memory Foam on Slatted Base Advice?

I never gave this a thought having not really had a slatted bed frame before but we have a memory foam mattress and having recently changed the old divan to a wooden slatted base, we are hearing rumours about memory foam needing solid foundations etc.
The new base consists of a metal outer frame and 2 sets of sprung wooden slat ladders side by side with a middle support section of metal legs.
The slats are 9cm apart, we are now wondering if this was a mistake and should send it back for a divan.
I have read advice online about replacing slats with peg board etc but in all honesty don't really need the hassle of having to do this, the mattress manufacturer said the slats must be no more than 5cm apart, some websites claim the slats are good for allowing the foam to breathe.
The mattress is 25cm thick out of interest.:(
Anyone else have memory foam on a slatted base?

Extra yellow pine wood pieces cut to size between slats or bung a plywood board on the top however, high density memory foam bases are unlikely to fall between the slats with a 25cm mattress.I never gave this a thought having not really had a slatted bed frame before but we have a memory foam mattress and having recently changed the old divan to a wooden slatted base, we are hearing rumours about memory foam needing solid foundations etc.

Get your local diy place to cut some board to size, maybe two pieces to keep it easy to handle, drop in place...simples! I'd go at least 12mm.0

We got a Tempur MF mattress about 8 years ago and got a wooden slatted base bed at the same time. Shop said it should be fine and it has been, no issues at all.
The gaps between the slats are about 1.5 to 2 inches, we did go for the firmest of the MF mattresses if that makes a difference.0 -
Tempur 15cm combi on a slatted base for 14 years still like new.0
