Barclaycard says no...

Made a claim to Barclaycard for PPI. They agree I had PPI on two credit cards, and habe refunded the excessive commission, however they are saying that info not qualify for a PPI reclaim as I signed up for the credit card in branch and would have been told.
At the time I had come into see money and was using the credit card only to purchase items to furnish a flat. The idea that I would have agreed to PPI is frankly a joke. I was not aware of the PPI payments and I suspect this is a classic case of post-sale manipulation of the paperwork.
I'm going to take this to the ombudsman but was wondering if anyone has been through the same thing and has any advice on how to frame the case? Clearly I don't want it to appear to be a he said/she said situation.
Thanks in advance.

All you need to do is present your evidence. Don't take tips from others or use templates - they're easy to spot and disprove.
Did you not see the PPI payments on each of your statements?0 -

How to "frame" the case? Tell the truth. Provide evidence of your assertion.
Your case is very very weak.0 -
Thanks for the responses. I'm not the type to check my statements in much detail and cannot recall the PPI amounts on the statements. As I was using the cards exclusively for one purposeI would have been just checking for the purchase items.
Perhaps 'frame the case' is poorly worded. I intend to tell the truth as the truth is that I am categorically certain I did not authorize PPI on these cards. The advice I am looking for is more to do with what actions others may have taken to prove the allegations that the PPI was not authorized by me. I don't intend to plagerize, but if someome has had a similar experience it would be useful to know.
Boris Thompson, why is my case weak?0 -

Your case is that you didn't agree to a charge for PPI but it's made weak because you did not complain about it the first month you were charged despite it being listed on every statement where you didn't pay off in full.
There is no way to frame your response other than being honest, trying to tailor it to try and enhance the case leads you to make mistakes or make claims that might fail your case.
Your problem is down to evidence (or lack of it). It's he said she said about whether the charge was added with your agreement or not and the delay between taking it and complaining counts against youSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The idea that I would have agreed to PPI is frankly a joke.
So, why did you not complain when you started seeing it on the statement? (noting you have already answered that but restating so you can understand the follow up). Credibility is an issue here with unprovable allegations. People who get billed things that they didnt agree to tend to raise it in under a year. The longer time goes on, the less credible that reason becomes.Clearly I don't want it to appear to be a he said/she said situation.
I don't blame you as complaints that rely solely on that tend to fail (the ones that succeed would rely on something else).wondering if anyone has been through the same thing and has any advice on how to frame the case?
Do you have a proper complaint reason or were you relying on the weakest complaint reason going??I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). You have to take some responsibility for continuing to pay it every month, when the very idea that you would do so was seemingly a joke. It's an itemised entry on every single credit card statement where it was charged, so that is why, as BorisThomson states, your case is weak. It will have been brought to your attention within a month of you opening the card and every month therafter.0 -

It's a myth sponsored by claim companies that PPI was routinely added to loans and credit cards without the knowledge and permission of the customer.0 -

That makes no sense at all; your saying you looked at your statement to make sure the items you purchased were on it but ignored anything extra being charged on there?. :rotfl:
The entire point of checking is to make sure your only charged for what you have bought, if you ignored anything else then you might as well have not checked them at all.0
