Buildings and content insurance claim

Hi. I bought building and contents insurance from RIAS last year and this Easter my roof leaked and water dripped out of the ceiling, ruining the bedroom carpet. I contacted RIAS to see what I could claim for and they said I couldn't claim for anything as this comes .under storm damage and there were no storms in my area for that period. Can this be right? Does anyone have any knowledge of this or can help me? I am faced with the cost of the roof repair, probably the ceiling repair and a new carpet.
Thanks.
John.
Thanks.
John.

That is correct John. Insurers have access to weather reports in the area and unless the damage can be related to a single incident (storm) it will more than likely be down to wear and tear. No insurer will cover that I'm afraid.0

Next time you have any incident like this don't speak to your insurer unless you are certain you are going to make a claim
Once you inform your insurer they will have put your loss on your record and you must now disclose this to future insurers you approach for quotes in the future as part of your history of claims and/or losses0 -

To be fair, he was sure he wished to make a claim, it just got rejected.
As above, unless it can be attributed to a one-off storm event, the damage will be classed as wear-and-tear related and therefore not covered.0
