Hi,

I bought a Samsung TV from shopdirect very.co.uk back in 2015, used my !!!8220;store!!!8221; credit to have interest free for 12 months after which I had 0% purchases card to settle most of not all the balance, why extend ( I was getting Santander 5% on my money so why not ). i have since settled the credit card.

The tv has now developed a fault which appears by looking online this is relatively common (not admitted by Samsung), would I be covered under section 75? Via my shopdirect account or the credit card provider? Or am I better going down the sale of goods act ?, as IMO a TV should last longer than 3 years...

Thanks

You need to speak to the retailer. However given it's age it's likely you'll need an engineers report to prove it's an inherent fault and therefore their responsibility. This costs about £70-£80 but if it's proved inherent this fee will be refunded.

If proved you'll be entitled to a partial refund, repair or replacement, essentially the retailers choice.

2015 you are not going to get much back in the way of a refund after usage probably 40% .
Contact the vendor in the first instance and see what they say/ offer .

Thanks, i didn't expect to get a full refund , i do expect to to be repaired or a refund based on expected life span, but 40% on a 500£ tv is worth it.

Well you may expect a bit much. a £500 TV in 2015 wasnt exactly high end.
It might be your opinion it should last over 3 years but will Very agree?
    I doubt a 40% refund is realistic.
