Hello folks,
Not being a particularly good DIY person I have often wondered how the flexible hose such as these are connected to a copper pipe, do you just push in and tighten the nut?

Thanks for info.

They have a standard compression end so yes. Don't overtighten though unelss you want leaks.0
-
The compression types are straightforward - look up compression plumbing fittings, plenty of pages describing how they work.
I find a smear of LS-X around the olive works well - never had one leak yet.

Which is completely unnecessary! This is a money saving site!
And yes I have never had one leak either (well unless some unusal external force was applied!).
Though given the radiators in my current house when I moved in it seem some people should not be let near a spanner/wrench/whatever. (thankfully all to slack in this case, so probably just to hand tight!).0 -

The money saving comes mostly from doing the job yourself, rather than getting a tradesperson in to do it.
The cost of some plumbing consumables like some LS-X, or some PTFE tape for the threads is nothing, particularly if it ensures the job goes right first time.0 -

Even easier and makes you look smarter than you really are.0 -
Thanks a lot for replies.
I got a new deck mixer in kitchen recently, and got plumber to fit a few of these flexibles with valves between the mixer unit and copper pipe, all done well, no leaks.
The thought crossed my mind though that pushing pots and pans in unit under sink, that the flexible hoses might be more easy to disturb, and cause a leak, rather than a straight forward copper connection straight to taps.
Maybe I am being over cautious and wrong in that.
Thanks.0 -
