E-ON tied into 25yr contract....help!
Has anyone else heard of or been tied into a 25 year energy contract with E-On by there developers, which in this case is Crescent? This is not a contract i agreed to, i switched to Scottish Power on the 15th March and E-On even produced the final bill but now say i cannot leave and have billed me for £43 for what exactly?? I have sent a complaint to E-On and am waiting a response. Surely there is a get out clause somewhere, i've checked the T&C'S but that doesn't explain a lot.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. Are you on a District Heating Scheme by any chance? If a switch had gone through, then the supplier already supplying your property could charge until the transfer had taken place. Transfers take anything from 17 to 35 days. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Short answer, most likely you are tied for a long period.
There are many developments with micro generation schemes where you will be tied into the supplier even though much of the electricity you use will actually come from the grid.0 -

Hello Jess.y and welcome to the Forums.
As Hengus says, this sounds like a District Heating scheme. They're also known as Community Energy (Heat) schemes. It's where heating and hot water come from a district heating system supplied by an Energy Centre close to where you live. We've a number of these schemes around the country.
Due to the particular nature of this type of heating arrangement, they're separate from the conventional electricity and gas side of the business. They're looked after exclusively by our Heat Team. This is a self-contained team with their own accounting structure, complaints procedure and website.
If you haven't already, this is the team to talk to. Advisors in our regular Contact Centres know about the Heat Team and can transfer you to them. They don't, though, have any access to their systems so wouldn't be able to offer any help or advice. As I say, these are standalone systems and only accessible to those with specialist training. They're open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Thursday, 8am to 7pm Fridays and between 9am and 5pm Saturdays.
As above, they have their own website too and there's more information on there that might help. Please search for Heat Supply.
Sorry I can't help further here Jess.y but hope this points you in the right direction.

Im afraid many heat networks are a total rip off!
Are you using a heat unit that is fitted with delay reacting valve? does it have the capacity of cooling your hot water tank prior to temperature raise? is there limited insulation surrounding the HIU that means you end up heating your cupboard on an environmental friendly heat network? if so welcome to rip off Britain!0
