Free reboot app for old 4.4.2 tablet?

Hi! Have an old ish phoenix hip street android tablet. Cleaned every 2 days. Recently I've been getting errors on EVERYTHING within 30 secs of booting up. Same message's mail not working', 'settings not working', etc. Looked up on another PC for a solution, even a factory reset, last resort, etc.

Finally got to command/reboot/recovery screen, a nightmare as buttons are stiff....need to hold volume on high and press poet on. Very fiddly, but just pressed 'reboot'. Hey presto, works fine, all apps/data retained.

Does anyone know of a free app that allows you to to reboot/recover WITHOUT mucking about with holding buttons?

Tablet is NOT rooted. Any suggestions kind people...apart from buy a new tablet lol!

:T Thanks!

That's what the combination of holding various buttons down is designed to do - hide it away so you don't do it by accident.

That being said, most Android tablets do have their own reset feature on the menus somewhere, typically there's an option maybe called Backup/Reset somewhere.

I'm a bit confused (it's probably just me!) But... what are you trying to do...?

How does hitting "reboot" in recovery mode help...? Can't you reboot from the OS when it crashes?

Why don't you just do a factory reset (wiping everything), then reinstall? It might help.

If you're feeling adventurous, you might be able to look for custom firmware (the operating system) that will work on your device. It might be a lot more reliable that the stock system that comes pre-installed.

The reset button under settings dies not work. Not that techy bbut reboo from the restore page fixes all errors. I have a separate launcher on smart phone that I download ed that sped things up a treat! Nova or something like that?

If you hold the power button, don't you get the option to reboot?

And if you're having weird problems like this, I'd try booting into Recovery and deleting the cache partition. This guide is for a totally different device, but the steps should be the same:

    Dunno if that helps?

Just a thought... what are you using to "clean" the tablet? Is it possible the cleaner is deleting important stuff and causing problems...?

I tried Nova, but uninstalled it pretty quickly -- I can't remember why. Do you have the same problems without Nova?

I would suggest that you stop using whatever cleaner you are using as that is much more likely causing your problems.
Reboot for the recovery screen is exactly the same as a reboot from the normal power button.

Yes -- it will keep apps and data. The only thing it gets rid of is cached working memory.

You know how, sometimes, when you open an app it "remembers" what you were doing last time and loads the same screen you were on before...? Stuff like that gets wiped, so the apps start with a "clean slate", but all your apps, data and settings will be untouched.
