Thank you very much that was very helpful no way I could have identified that the thermostat has been changed for example

    With the electric meter
    1. How do I identify when the meter switches? What indication do I search for?

    2. The time is 12 am at the moment (actual time BST), the meter shows 11 pm. For example say the off-peak is 11 to 6. I suppose this is the time for both summer and winter. However the clock is always following GMT which is the winter time. Will it automatically be adjusted to record reading one hour earlier of BST in the summer though the time is not changed?

    3. When an electric heater is installed, one thing I can't follow is this. So if the heater is used in off-peak hours as you said it will attract off-peak rate, however if it is used in peak hours it will attract peak rates. So say I use it off-peak first thing, later in the day how would I use the hot water from the tank and not switch on the electric heater? I suppose the knob of the electric heater will allow water flow and heat up at once. So how do I say to it that it should only allow water in and not heat up as the water from the tank is hot? The other thing is around the water mixing. Do they come with mixers in the electrical shower unit?

Thank you very much in advance

In your photo, the display is showing RATE 2. So you'll see that change to Rate 1 in the morning.

Apologies, I made a mistake in the earlier post, now corrected -- the cheaper rate starts and ends an hour later in Summer.

As you rightly say, the meter will always stay on GMT time. The Horstmann controller indicates this by the two reference marks for Summer and Winter time. The Horstmann controller doesn't need any adjustments from GMT to BST.

However if you were to install an instant electric shower, you'd need to be aware of the time change to use the shower before the cheap rate ends.

Ideally you'd need both the electric shower and your existing mixer shower. If that's not possible, could you have a mixer tap + shower hose and handset fitted to your bath with the electric shower above?
