Hi - I sympathise as I had a similar thing with trolls (dont laugh i'm serious) - we bought mini troll dolls which we adapted into earrings etc for one of our websites - a few months later we got an email from dam trolls saying we had to remove the items and pay them $32,000 for selling fake items!! These earrings sold for £3.50 a pair and we had only sold 4 pairs so there was no way I would pay anything - I contacted ICASS (Innovators Counselling and Advisory Service for Scotland) and they were very helpful and told me to contact Dam saying I bought these items in good faith and had been led to believe they were originals and that to prove this I would send them the original sellers details so they could contact the person who was breaking the law as I had done nothing wrong. I also agreed to stop selling the items. They were more than happy with this as that was their main aim - to scare and get me to stop selling items. I then told them I bought them from ebay (did not give individuals name) and they seemed happy with that.

I would NOT sign anything without getting solicitor etc to check it first but maybe write to or email them saying you bought these ase originals and iff needed you will supply the details of your source and that you will immediately stop selling these items - apologies for inconvenience etc, personal seller not a business etc, you will continue to use their products but will only buy from retail shops and not from ebay in future etc.
It should work - good luck and if you are in scotland please contact ICASS for peace of mind (not sure what other countries equivalents are).

  • I would personally get in touch with your local trading standards office and go and see them with some packets and they will be able to tell you if they are fake or not. Explain to them what has happened and they may take the case on for you. But go and see your local CAB. Don't sign anything yet.

If you don't like it well you will just have to lump it!

Does this letter look official from Procter & Gamble?

My first thought was that maybe someone was trying to pretend to be Procter & Gamble, to try to get money out of all the people selling fake blades on ebay..?

I would be very warey of sending them any money just from one letter.

Definately try help from Citizens advice.

I would advise the same as a lot of other people on here, get yourself down to a solicitor. I'd imagine they're the only group of people that have any chance of helping you at this stage

Bought = the act of buying
Brought = the act of bringing something with you

You bought the gillette M3 blades.

Did you type or scan the letter for inclusion as reading it through there are various spelling mistakes,it makes a difference in the advice to be offered

I find it strange that a big company like P&G should be operating out of a building on a very small estate that also seems to house a scrapyard

Seems like a "no brainer" just inform them of who you bought them from, and ask for a letter to confirm they consider the matter closed and that you do not have to sign the declaration letter.

How did they know they were fake? Ask them to tell you how they know they are fake so you don't get caught out again in the future. It may be that they have not got a clue what you are selling and are just mistaken. Or maybe they bought one from you?

Also what email address did you use, and where did you get the email address from?
