Replacing UPVC front door on Victorian house

Good afternoon all!
I'm looking at replacing our front door, but have no idea where to start.
It's a UPVC type frame and composite door that's previously been jimmied at some point in its life.
There's a glass window at the top of the door - do we need to replace the whole plastic frame for a wooden frame? I want an original Victorian hardwood door fitted.
How does it all work? (First home!!!) Thanks

Your hardwood door should be fitted into a timber frame. So remove what is currently there. If you can source an old door that fits then fine, but if it means a new door be careful because much of what is readily available is rubbish. Getting a door made bespoke could be the answer. Here a local joinery workshop, or a local builders merchant is your route forward. Have a chat with them. Likewise have a chat with a local carpenter regarding sourcing, ironmongery and fitting.0

I think you'd need it bespoke made as well, if there is no 'proper' frame.
You will be rewarded each time you come home. The front door is one of the most singularly important elements of a period home, to me.
A local joinery is where to look, in my opinion.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
