                    Hi there,
I bought a £1,500 TV from Curry’s and in little over four months it has developed a serious fault. I have pictures of the fault and I’m wondering if I have the right to a replacement. Which and CAB say I do, but Curry’s said I had to accept a repair first. I’m not sure this is correct. I don’t want something that is supposed to last five or more years to be repaired this early on. Any advice would be great. Thank you.

            Currys are right.
You are entitled to a remedy.
That remedy could be either a repair, replacement or refund.
You can choose the remedy, but you cannot insist on a remedy that is disproportionate.
That effectively means the seller can choose the cheapest remedy.
After one failed repair attempt you can insist on a full refund within the first six months following purchase.
Even after six months and one failed repair attempt, you can insist on a refund, but that refund can be reduced to take account of the use you have had.
And there is no apostrophe in Currys. 0 0

Ah thank you Keith, so I’m entitled to ask for a replacement? That’s good enough for me. It would require them fitting a new screen. And yes, my bad on the apostrophe!0

If Currys wish to repair the set then they are allowed to do this.0

From the Which website regarding the CSRs
Take note of the bit in bold.If you are outside the 30-day right to reject, you have to give the retailer one opportunity to repair or replace any goods or digital content which are of unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described.
You can state your preference, but the retailer can normally choose whichever would be cheapest or easier for it to do.

You have to do the quick questionnaire but, when I did it anyway, it came up with the same result as Which0
