  • try the old rose and crown lickey hills, west midlands

its only samll but has lovely surrounding areas

they have 11 rooms for guests and the bride and groom and you can have the whole hotel to yourself if you plan it right
its only a bargain, if you need it or will use it.

As crazy as it sounds - some of these venues are AWESOME (some stately homes with ballrooms!) - the majority of them let you do your own thing....

    Good luck!

We looked at all sorts of place in and around Edinburgh and Glasgow. Try searching for community and village halls, meeting rooms, function rooms, museums, theatres independent cinemas etc. I know that sounds obvious but sometimes throws up something you hadn't thought of. Unfortunately more and more places are becoming savvy to the whole wedding thing and charging for full packages etc.

Our venue is letting us do our own thing but are supporting us in finding suppliers and our hire charge includes two members of staff. It;s very reasonble and a lovely venue, basically a church hall space but it isn't a church hall.
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!
