home insurance . no claims ?

we have never had any house insurance , I know MAD, we are thinking of taking out house insurance but filling out on line they ask "have you made any claims in the last 5 years .well the answer is no, but do you need any type of no claims discount like you do with car insurance to prove that you have had no claims in the time that you say ..thanks

The answer is no, however in the event of a claim the company may make a detailed search within the industry to ensure that it is correct. If it turned out that you had not disclosed a claim within that period then they would refute the claim.

...probably not worth the risk, especially if they do ask for proof before/after a subsequent claim.

No .... you don't. The industry keep shareable records on claims, but haven't yet been forced to start asking for evidence.
