Some amazing OPs and a fantastic holiday to look forward to!

Well done you - life is for living as well as OPing :rotfl:

Thank you! And I agree, I don't want to miss out on all the fun today for the sake of overpayments. I'm grateful though that we've managed to find a lot of areas to cut back in that don't seem to really make any difference to our happiness.

Yes,a lot of Buddhists go to Japan :)

That makes sense! I'm really looking forward to visiting temples there as well.

How fantastic! - what an experience! :) x
Thanks greent! I'm glad no one's told me off yet for raiding some of the emergency fund, it was just too good an opportunity :rotfl:

Julicorn, loving the Japan trip - lots of planning on here too, please :) and I'm seriously loving your side hustles :) congratulations!
Thank you Karmacat! Will definitely share our plans here, glad to have a place where I can talk about plans like that without boring everyone (as I seem to do with my family and colleagues :rotfl:). And thank you - I'm still finishing things up at the moment and am looking at launching my etsy shop late January / early Feb at the latest. I'm under no illusion that it'll be a huge money maker, but I've been wanting to try earning a bit of pocket money with crafts for years, so I might as well give it a shot.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a lovely start into 2019 :)

I'm using today to sort out some goals for 2019. I've re-started meal planning for what feels like the billionth time, so a trip to Tesco's is on the cards for later today.

This morning also seemed like a good time to reconcile our accounts, and I was greeted by this on the mortgage account page:

As much as I wish that's true, I somehow don't think we've managed to pay off quite that much in 2018 :rotfl:
Probably just a glitch while they work out our updated monthly payment for 2019, which according to my calculations should be reduced by about £60 (until July at least - I'm preparing for the rate to go up a fair bit).

Forgot to add that we got gifted some money for Christmas, so managed to make an overpayment of £500 to start off 2019. :) As mentioned before, this is likely to be the only OP we make this month - we're mainly focused on getting the emergency fund (or 'Zombie Apocalypse Fund' as I like to call it) up to £10k.
