Tesco may not allow you to collect points on these sorts of transactions

For instance my SIPP contributions have never gained me any points.

Interesting and you are making your SIPP contributions by debit card rather than direct debit, etc? I am sure some on the forum confirmed they were getting points on their ISA contributions a few months ago.

I mentioned this to Tesco Bank in passing a couple of months back when I was having problems with Verified By VISA and the CS chap was quick to point out that it was unlikely that I would get points for the reasons stated above. I added some cash to one of my GIAs a couple of weeks back using debit card and nothing showing at Clubcard yet. Still, live in hope and all that but I don't hold out much of it. Maybe it depends upon the institution where the smaller ones fly below the Tesco radar

Yes, it's definitely down to whether they recognise debit card payments as financial transactions and they don't always.

I remember kicking myself mildly when buying a car a couple of years ago, so put transactions through a tesco account in the last few months, credited with clubcard points for both a four figure sipp contribution and a five figure isa contribution in the last couple of months, so worth trying as it's just an additional transfer and may be worthwhile, looking at one to two nights hotel stay for me for free.

Ok you guys have just convinced me not to bother with a joint Tesco Bank account. We already have too many bank accounts anyway.

I currently use a Curve Debit Card linked to my Tesco Debit Card.

The vast majority of transactions now count as a "purchase" for the purpose of collecting clubcard points, for example I now collect points when paying off my Barclaycard credit card. I am going to try it when depositing into my Skipton LISA soon.

I have also earned clubcard points from making deposits directly with my Tesco card (before I got the Curve) into certain accounts recently including Nutmeg, Vanguard, Orbis, NS&I.
