Breakdown cover

In the past, when I was an RAC member, I had to wait 2 hours for a 3rd party garage to show up more than once.0

Changing a tyre is a basic motoring skill that everyone used to know once upon a time. Maybe teach her how to change her own then she is on her way in 5 minutes instead of waiting 30 or more for someone to turn up.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I've used the AA, RAC & Greenflag, admittedly it's been a while now since using any of them as I have breakdown cover with my bank.
The AA I have to say was way ahead of the other two, RAC were the worst Greenflag were actually ok.
RAC I actually had to wait 7 hours for them to turn up and when they did the guys attitude stunk (fortunately I was at a friends house when I had the problem) the guy started looking at the car, I had to pop into my friends car to use the loo, told the guy I would be back in a minute, came out the guy was about to drive off without giving me any info,I ran over and asked was it fixed, no he replied I cant fix it.
I asked "what next" he shrugged his shoulders, I pointed out I had relay type cover, he demanded a look at my card with the cover showing, I showed him this, he then informed me that "he cant do anything, car has to be lifted, call the helpline and arrange a uplift" did this, another two hour wait for a local firm to come and uplift the car and get myself, wife (fortunately my two kids were having a sleepover with my friends kids).
I actually went home and purchased AA cover that night, meaning I was actually covered by RAC & the AA, I did make a complaint but never got any reply and never chased it up as I had no intention or ever used them again.0 -
That’s a shame, never used them.
Might I add, the RAC must be about the worst breakdown service on answering their phones for breakdowns.
Over 2 hours we tried to get through to report a breakdown, thank god we were not in a dangerous position.
This happened at the end of March, and I dread ever having to use the service again, they just don’t answer their phones, and blamed it on the weather, which was bad in England, but fine where we were in Scotland.
I will give the AA a go when my year runs out.0 -
