Mounting lightweight things on wall without drilling
Options

Hi, I want to put my router and couple of other lightweight things on wall. Want to avoid drilling as there are some pipes behind the place where I want to put them. What are my Options? I know off double sided tape but I guess if I ever want to take it off, I won't be able to? In past I have tried those 3M command velcro straps for other lightweight items but didn't work and kept falling off. Ta

Although they have pins which you knock into the plasterboard, the pins are short enough not to go through the width of the plaster board. I always use these if I have pipes or wires behind a wall where I am going to hang a picture. Also available from the DIY sheds.0 -

This is dangerous - you shouldn't be nailing or fixing over cable or pipe runs, far far safer to position fixings several inches to the side and avoid the risk and you shouldn't assume that cables or pipes are always a plasterboard thickness deep because in most houses they are not, they can be closer, with just a thin skim of plaster or filler over the top.
Cables should be run in 'safe zones' which you should avoid, but it's still worth getting a metal detector and checking first.

I certainly use a metal detector and always position away from cables/pipes if I can as this is common sense. Also have the advantage of knowing that the builders placed pipes and cables on the breeze block and then plaster boarded over them. But as you say better to be safe than sorry if you aren't sure.0
