Don't worry. It only seems to be the UK that doesn't like large denomination notes. Like someone said above, I've used EUR50 & 100 notes without a problem loads of times - they just take it and give change. Once bought something for about 7 EUR with a 100.
Used high demonition notes in loads of other countries as well. But never ever used a £50 note here!0
