5TH TIME LUCKY!!
We've done something Id lost total confidence in actually happening!
Went on in Oct 2017, 5 agreed sales, 4 falling through. Luckily, the house we are buying is the best we submitted an offer on so in the end, after a brutally long and stressful period in our family life, we've got to exchange!! (3rd sale agreed fell through at 11 weeks!!!)
Good luck to everyone else going through this process

Congratulations - I hope to be at your stage sometime! Must be a relief!0

100% lost complete faith in it all! 2 of the offers, lost within a week, nearly as frustrating as the one that went 11 weeks. Thankfully, this time it was FTB and its taken 8 weeks to exchange.0

Congrats!
2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
I too have had a brutal 12 months trying to buy a leasehold flat. If you can be 5th time lucky, I can perhaps be 3rd time lucky!
Congratulations and the best of luck!0 -
Can you shed some light on why so many fell through?
Were these buyers of your property that walked away, or...0 -
2 offered, and changed mind within 5 days.
one, offersd offered on a sat after 1st viewing, came for a second viewing the next day, even hugged my parter, telling her how excited she was and it was her dream home. 3 days later, pulled out!!
Other two same person, chain, lost their buyer twice, meaning they had to pull out on us.
Our final offer, which has got to exchange, first time buyers!! No chain below or above! Stress free. 7 months in taotal. Heartbreaking at times with 3 kids too. (Arranging child minders etc!!)
In the end we end up with the best house we’ve seen and not one issue with buyers, very smooth 8 weeks!!
Good luck to all going through this god awful process!!0 -

I am so glad I am selling in Scotland,. At least if things fall through here, they fall through early.

We had an offer from cash buyer in 2 days of going on market. But although we are also cash buyers it took 4 goes for us to buy. 1st went nearly to exchange then they pulled out completely. 2nd we negotiated, finally agreed asking price which was really too high, they then pulled out. 3rd we agreed asking price, again sorted out contract, searches, but they then delayed as could not find anything and then pulled out. 4th finally went through and we are in it now and with hindsight it was the best choice.
I thought the sale would be traumatic, it was easy, we moved into rented when 1st attempt to buy fell through. Never thought the buying would be difficult given that we were cash buyers.
Add to that having to pay the government £15K stamp duty and £5K fees for the privilege of 9 months of stress.
Lesson learnt. Never, ever, again. Next time we get the urge to move will go on holiday instead.0 -
Some horrendous stories in here. Just a quick question please. Where in the UK is this happening?
We had a quick sale then our buyers had a problem with their buyers so the chain collapsed. Went back on the market as did their property. Just found out that they had now sold again. But why is it so difficult?0
