Electric Safety Certificate

Hi
We are in a process of part exchanging our house with the builder. They have asked us to get a electric safety certificate.
Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is what they are asking for? I have checked with them but all they said is electric safety certificate.
Sorry if this if a silly question, but I need to know for sure if EICR is the right certificate.
Many thanks

im self employed electrition and a eicr is correct
expect between £80 and £200 for a report depending on how thorough they are
i take every switch and light down for checking others do the basic 20% minimum they can get away with0 -
Tell them you will allow them to have it inspected. A certificate in your name will be useless to them if they have any comeback.
Also elec certificates are not a requirement in a private house, only in rentals.
PS A self employed electrician should a least be able to spell it.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0 -
They might be asking for the Building Regs Compliance Certificate from when the system was installed. How old is it?
You are not obliged to conduct or pay for a new EICR. It would normally be down to the buyer to make their own inspections and enquiries.0 -

I have just gone through the same process of part exchanging my existing house with a builder and they are asking the same of me so I think it is the norm.
We are getting an EICR - we exchanged yesterday without this piece of paper but our contract does say we must provide one before completion.0 -
That is correct.
Although I have an old Periodic Inspection Certificate which is still valid until 2019 but builder is adamant that they need a recent certificate at my own expense.
I guess we would have to get one then.
Now here may be an issue - fuse board in our house is a plastic one. Would this need to be changed to metal one before EICR can be issued? I have read regulations have changed in Jan 2016
Many thanks0 -
The amendment 3 changes do not apply retrospectively so it will not prevent it passing.0
-
So are you saying that we should be okay without having to get the fuse board changed?
Thanks0 -
The EICR will state that it is not to current regulations.
Whilst there is no requireent to upgrade each time the regulations change, it will be up to the buyer (builder) how they react to this.0 -
