How do you access the garden? Is it from the first floor or the ground? Might be a pain if you have a dog or cat or even kids. It's always nice to have a door from a lounge and/or kitchen so you feel like you're extending your living space into the garden. If there's just one bedroom downstairs, it may feel a bit odd if say you want a BBQ, even if there is a hallway so they don't have to go through your bedroom. Bit of a pain with the kitchen upstairs.
Still won’t let me do a url of the floorplan photo as I’m too new
So garden is accessed from the sun room (as they call it) so wouldn’t be going grouch any bedrooms. I think it can also be accessed by going around the garage on the left hand side if coming from the front of the house.0 -
I own 3 such properties, in the Highlands of Scotland, on a hillside, views of lochs & mountains from sitting room upstairs, open hillside & stream within 100 mtrs from each up the hill. Whole estate built like that some time in the 60's.
Fine, not an issue: I explain to people viewing that it's that way round: Don't recall anyone throwing a hissy fit & stomping off at that stage, nor having problems with tenants because of it.0 -

We are in Scotland- looking in the Bishopton area of Renfrewshire. There’s not the same views you get in a highland property obviously but honestly it’s not my priority. Going into house searching our priorities were 4+ bedrooms, a garden, good parking and a good location, which this house has all of. I don’t think life for us would be that different upside down lol.0

I am guessing it is this one.0

I like the layout, the hall is spacious with access to the down stairs and outside through the sun room.
I would consider adding some facilities under the deck to give some basic alfresco dining options from the garden to compliment the offering on the deck off the kitchen.0 -

If that's the house, I would say that one is split level!
All the main living accommodation is on the entrance level and then bedrooms are on a another level but with access outside too.... Seems to be a lot of this type of house around that areaThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
We spotted a few when house hunting last year, they were of the type previously mentioned which looked like a bungalow from the front but a 2 storey house from the back. I quite like them but my GF wasn't keen at all.0

I wouldn't mind that style of house but it would be a pain with dogs and small children so yes it would limit your market. If it has great views that might make up for it.0
