I don't think I've heard the term 'awarded' used for domestic building jobs before. It makes me wonder about the OP's expectations. My experience is that you're doing well if you get a builder to award you with a visit for a quote.:D

    You're right.

I've had phonecalls this week asking me to come and quote. I've asked them to email me the details of their project. It gives me a chance to vet them and the project.

It might just be me, but being asked to simply quote (and then be awarded) is like being asked to perform certain acts before even a glass of wine together and then wondering if one is then awarded with a relationship :o :rotfl: It just feels a bit dirty, as if I'm not valued.

It's much more about a mutual understanding than that, imo.

Great response - completely ignoring all the valid points made and going for a winky face to try and mock someone who was offering valid and helpful advice.

    Charming.

I was not mocking you. Im over 21 and leave forum mocking to the keyboard warriors.

I used that term because, I obtain quotes from three different suppliers/builders etc.

I wish I didn't start this thread as its all been taken the wrong way! :)

I'll always blush at the "quote me happy" insurance ad in future. :o

The quote listed what they were going to do. Nothing about hours of work.
There's your answer I'm afraid. If you had specific expectations you wanted met, they should have been part of the agreement.

I'm glad you did. I'm still laughing at "quote me happy" :rotfl:

You need to do that on some level or the job will collapse faster than scaffolding built off a decking board.
Oh, nice use of the English language - superb.

Dafty and Doozer sitting in a tree,
Doozer quoting Dafty hap hap ee.

Doozer and Dafty strolling up a hill,
Dafty asks Doozer to work on his bill....

Doozer frowns at Dafty, and gives him a smack,
Dafty lying stiff and cold, flat out on his back!

Dafty crawls off home, plainly out of luck,
Doozer striding off elsewhere, couldn't give a Duck!
