Pressure washer - question re aqualoc connector

Hi all
I've just had an outdoor tap installed and bought a pressure washer. I needed some connectors for a standard hose so went to B&Q.
I spoke to one of the employees there who advised that aquastop valves weren't recommended (although I didn't understand his explanation). Anyway, he pointed me in the direction of a hozeloc pack which contains an aquastop valve and a standard valve. He told me to use the aquastop valve at the tap and the standard valve at the washer in order to prevent damage to the washer.
Can anyone explain this to me in terms a simple person (me) would understand!!?
Thanks

Well, one of the most popular makes of pressure washers in the UK (Karcher) show Aqua stop connectors being used on their washers.

and I've used one on my pressure washer for years and never had a problem with it.
I cant see any point in using an aquastop valve on the tap end of the hose as this valve is designed to stop water flowing from the hose when it's not connected to anything and having it fitted to a tap is pointless.0 -
Thanks. I was told that using an aqualoc tap at the machine would burn out the motor quicker.
Could it be something to do with not having a constant source of water entering the machine (e.g. the advice to run the water through prior to switching on to prevent damage)?0 -
The advice is idiotic.
Aquastop only 'stops' water when NOT connected to a fitting, so connect it to your pressure washer and water will ALWAYS flow through the unit - it's up to the machine to decide what to 'let through'

Thanks. So if I have one aquastop valve and one regular valve, is there any particular setup that is better?0
