Overpaid mortgage protection insurance

I have somewhat carelessly failed to cancel the premiums for mortgage protection insurance when I paid off my mortgage. I can see that the total comes to many hundreds of pounds. Should I be able to go to the insurers and reclaim this excess?

No. You could ask for goodwill, but you paid for the service, and they have provided this.0

Depends on what insurance it is that you are referring to (mortgage protection is somewhat generic and covers many different types of insurance). So, what type of insurance is it?
If the insurer covered all lenders and was not lender specific then they have no reason to end it unless you tell them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
