Concrete Cavity Block Construction

Hi All

I am looking to buy a house the estate agent have stated its Concrete Cavity Block Construction.

Is this risk can anyone advise pls.

I am first time buyer so bit confused.

Is that the precise form of words used? A slight difference in wording could make it mean one of two different things:-
a) A cavity wall with both the inner and outer wall built with concrete blocks
b) A wall built with concrete blocks containing a cast-in cavity.

"Concrete cavity block" suggests (b) which are things that look like this:-

- but alternatively could be things that take you into the territory of system-built houses.

For me that might urge a bit of caution as it depends on what (if anything) the cavities have been filled with. In some situations the wall can act more like a solid wall (think damp and cold spots) than a true cavity wall.

I'd also be wondering why the estate agent felt the need to mention it in the particulars....

Hi They said its a non standard construction and may have some lender mortgage issues.

I have specifically asked if there is any structure issue they have responded none.

I like the property but don't want to take the risk.

Chances are you might struggle to find a lender who is prepared to take the risk as well!
