There's an interesting note in the manual:

    Not sure how that works.

And it already has a telescopic aerial anyway ...

I have the same radio and have replaced the speaker with a better one. To check if it was the speaker causing the poor sound I connected one to the headphone socket and it worked although at a lower volume than the internal speaker. When I took it apart to replace the speaker I looked at the headphone socket, it is fed via 2 resistors (100R from memory) so not stereo. You may be able to find a true stereo output somewhere on the circuit board and use the AUX input socket as an output socket.

OP; do you have any mobile devices available to you - smartphone, tablet?

Can I suggest that you buy a Google Chromecast Audio, download the Google Home app, and use the phone to cast radio programmes to the CCA, which gets plugged into the amplifier?

That way, you'll get better sound, and you'll be able to listen to radio programmes via on-demand services; so you can listen to them when you want to, rather than being limited by the station schedules....
