Mobility Car in a crash.. help!

Hi,
Looking for some help if possible. My dad had a wee bump in his mobility car, someone was cycling and my dad never seen then. He took them off their bike and he has a few dents on the car. Thank goodness that guy on the bike was fine! Bless him!
The police witnessed the incident and he got 3 points of his licence and a £100 fine.
It was my dads fault - he accepts the blame. He was very shaking and nervous for a little while but seems fine now.
He took the car to a garage today to get a quote for repair and they quoted £490. Just a tad over what he had expected!
Can anyone tell me if he would be able to claim through the mobility scheme insurance? How much would it cost?
Any help would be great! My dad only got his car last year and has never had any points on his licence etc.
Thanks!

He's obliged to (has to) inform his insurance, and yes they'll sort it out, he'll need to pay the excess which will be less than that repair cost0

Think the excess is 100.

I had to claim on motability insurance last year literally 2 months before i was due to hand my car back as i drove into back of someone when they stalled at a roundabout
.
They were brilliant and made everything really easy and straightforward for me. All i paid was the excess. I got a courtesy car while mine was being repaired.
Hope your Dad and the cyclist are ok xLast bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -
I know when you have an accident its hard to think straight, but really your dad should have contacted Mobility insurance company (RSA) immediately. He needs to contact them. They will have a list of approved garages that can do the work. If a different garage does the work and then you claim (or don't), it will make the situation a lot worse0

Tell your Dad these 2 things
1. Everybody makes mistakes sometimes, it's human to do so. At least no one was hurt.
2. The insurance company will not judge, they will simply take his report and deal with it. If the damage is minor they may choose not to have repairs done. A few years back my husband put a significant dent in the tailgate of my motability car (backed it into our house wall ) about half way through my lease. I reported it to RSA, who told me not to get it repaired, just leave it.
Amazingly I even got my £200 good condition bonus when the car was handed back - I certainly didn't expect itI try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
Thanks you alls o much for your replies. We did contact the inurance side of the mobilty scheme when it happened and they had said we could choose to claim or get it fixed ourselves, we didnt think it would be as expensive as it was. We contacted them again thsi week and they have stated that because we made them aware of it and the fact the damage isnt that bad they would be happy to put it under normal wear and tear when he hands his car back. They were lovely, they even emailed me confirmation of our conversation that if needed we can use when we hand the car back!
Thanks again guys!0 -
