Garage had car for two weeks now?

  • My experience has been large franchise dealerships are much worse for this than small garages. Its unfortunate that the technology in cars means you are pretty much forced to use them for some things now.

I would keep chasing them up until they give you an update and, based on what they've found (assuming they've looked at it!) a date when the job should be completed, its a perfectly reasonable request.

The 2.2 petrol (Z22YH) was also fitted to the 2007 Zafira. It had a HP fuel pump is fitted to the engine and is very unreliable. A modified Bosch pump is available from another source and is cheaper and considerer to be more reliable than the OEM Continental or Siemens pumps which are usually in short supply, possibly hence the delay.

    So OP which engine?

Sorry totally forgot about the 2.2 engine, My bad,
The fuel pump and the fuel pressure regulator, have known problems,

An 07 petrol Zafira, do have problem with ECU's need to know fault codes,
the fuel pump is in the tank, so tank needs to be removed to replace,
these also suffer from flooding, and are a pig to start after a short journey,
Dealer is not the best place for any car as they will wait until a car come in that the same spec and swap parts to see if it starts,

Did your car have any of the following problems before not start,
    Power steering problems
    missfire
    engine management light on
    is it a 16 or 1.8

Is that why it’s taking so long?

    Thanks all,

Update they suddenly say I need a new battery, but this is not the problem. There is power in battery, all electrics work and I tested the batt myself before it went in

I said ok, even thought they are charging £120+

But still haven!t found out what the problem is, why it won;t start.

They said there are about 40 faults showing up on the computer'!!!!!!!!!!!

The thing is! It went in for a service not long ago and there were no faults at all reported then, jut a change of oil and filters etc

You can collect your car any time you like. There's no set time limit on how long a repair can take.

I have never seen a car with 40 fault codes, I have seen 10.
Vauxhall will use a Tech 3 diagnostic reader, which links to the factory.
All the faults will be present or not present.
All the not present faults can be cleared and concentrate on the present faults.
I would be surprised if you car had 40 faults even if the engine was removed.

I am a Master Tech, where I work and i get all the problems no one else can sort.
Get your car out of there FAST,

The longest i have ever spent on a car, (working on it all the time) is 2 days,
your car will only start if it has 3 things.
    Fuel
    spark (if petrol)
    and compression
if one is missing you have found the problem.
where in the country are you ?

There is a 4th thing needed, to override the computer that immobilises the engine

Yes that will stop the fuel or Spark, and sometime the starter,
