Could this be causing the referrals?

Just wondered what your thoughts are...

Recently i had a call from Santander to say my card was trying to be used in Italy. I explained it wasnt me and they cancelled the card and issued a new one. No money was taken.

Since then every credit application I have made has been referred before a decision can be made. They did get approved a few days later.

I am now in a position that I need a personal loan. I used the soft search on the Post Office website and it said I had 8/10 chance of being approved.

I then started the application and it offered me the lowest apr of 3% but said my application yet again had been referred. How annoying. Hope they dont increase the apr if they approve me.

  • I wouldn't think so unless there is a fraud marker against you.

What do your credit files say?

Use Clearscore for Equifax and the MSE Credit Club for Experian

I think you may have hit the nail on the head here. When i look.at experian it says 'corrections and quieries' 1 record.

I found this using the MSE credit club. It wont however allow me to click it to find out who registered it or why!

Perhaps it is simply that your applications get referred because there have been a large number of them in a short space of time?

I very much doubt that it says 'something' about you disputing 'something'.
It must give more details than that if it is a notice of correction!
There is no reason for Santander to have placed such a notice on your credit files as what is alleged to have occurred in Italy does not appear to be in any way connected with a fraudulent application.
Request the removal of this notice.

Just to update. It turns out i did put a dispute on the credit file back in 2015 as my barclaycard balance was 9 weeks out of date.

It must have been on my experian ever since. I called them up and they jave agreed to remove it but it takes 14 days. Grrrrr
