Being chased for debt which starts 9 years ago

Any advice or help would be appreciated thank you

my husband and I bought and moved into my home is 2008. Some of the houses and land around us are owned by a housing association and there is a grass verge which is owned by the housing association. In 2008 we asked for permission to put a driveway across this land to get vehicle access to our back garden. We were told we could put a driveway in and have used this for the last nine years and would like to continue using this.

I received a letter a few weeks ago from the HA saying that they are looking at the pieces of land they own and changing systems and their records show that we use this land and they should have paid £75 a year for a licence for the last nine years so we owe them £675 and we also have to pay upfront for next year so we owe them £750. I have never received invoices are been sent details of how to pay. They said we signed an agreement at the time but I totally forgot about this until they contacted us a few weeks ago. I asked for a copy of the agreement and yes both myself and my husband plus a witness did sign. I asked for copies of invoices and any contact they tried to make over the last nine years but they do not appear to have done any of this. They have said their records may incorrect or incomplete.

I agree going forward that I need to pay £75 a year. My problem is that they are asking for the last nine years which they have not invoiced for or asked until now. Please would someone know if this is covered by the 6 years Limitations or where do we stand I this? thank you for any help or suggestions
