Homebuyer report - risk of damp problems

    I wouldn't worry, but then I didn't worry about buying a house with some damp issues. Around here you'd worry if there wasn't a bit of damp!
  • I checked the council planning applications and can see the work listed from 2013 but the status is "work started". I contacted council to ask what the status means and they said that the home owner hasn't contacted the council for a site inspection following completion of work and to get a certificate. I've asked the seller why this is the case but really do not understand why you wouldn't finalise the planning control and wrap this up. This is starting to spook us from going ahead with the purchase now. I'm hoping there's a good explanation for this and that they can get the final inspection work done and signed off.

    Laziness? Apathy? Obviously be cautious, but loads of people don't bother to do loads of stuff. I speak from experience.:o
  • Would extending a house into the soil behind it require planning permission or is it some other type of permission / sign off that's required. The owner said that you don't need planning permission for that type of work because it's internal structural change but it does need building regulation sign off.
